Poetry reading with Lorna shaughnessy and Moya Cannon
Lorna Shaughnessy has published three poetry collections, Torching the Brown River, Witness Trees and Anchored (Salmon Poetry) and a chapbook, Song of the Forgotten Shulamite (Lapwing). Lark Water, her fourth collection, will be launched in 2021. She lectures in Hispanic Studies in NUI Galway and translates Galician, Spanish and Latin American poetry. In 2018 she was awarded an Artist’s Bursary by the Arts Council of Ireland.
Moya Cannon is an Irish poet with six published collections, the most recent being Donegal Tarantella (Carcanet Press, Manchester, 2019). In her poems, archaeology and geology figure as gateways to an understanding of our relationship with our endangered earth. Music, mainly traditional Irish music, has always been a deep interest and is a constant theme. She has received the Brendan Behan Award and the O’Shaughnessy Award and, in 2011, was Heimbold Professor of Irish Studies a Villanova University P.A.. She has edited Poetry Ireland Review and is a member of Aosdána. Her Collected Poems is due from Carcanet Press in 2021.
