Eugene O Connell and Gabriel Fitzmaurice

Eugene O’Connell is A founding editor of the Cork Literary Review, contributing reviews and articles to several publications, including the Irish Times and The Irish Examiner, where he was a poetry critic for many years. He was co-editor with Pat Boran of The Deep Hearts Core, an acclaimed anthology of Irish poetry published by Dedalus Press in 2018. His new collection of poems, Thin Air, will be published in 2022.

Gabriel Fitzmaurice is an author of more than sixty books, including collections of poetry in English and Irish and several collections of verse for children. He has translated extensively from the Irish and has edited several anthologies of poetry in English and Irish. He has published volumes of essays and collections of songs and ballads. Poems of his have been set to music and recorded by Brian Kennedy and performed by the RTÉ Cór na nÓg with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.

He has written the foreword to The Man Who Died Twice, Eugene O’Connell’s excellent book of translations from the Irish of Eoghan Rua Ó Súilleabháin.
