Cumar: A Galway Rhapsody

A new feature-length documentary introduced by Aodh Ó Coileáin
DIRECTOR: Aodh Ó Coileáin
In the Gaelic world, it is thought that our existence oscillates between a life of breathing, a life of feeling, and a spiritual life. Where confluence exists between these, creativity thrives. Filmed in a year’s turning, CUMAR features six Galway based artists and explores their homeplace as a source of impetus and inspiration for artistic endeavour.
The film includes observations and creations of musician/composer Máirtín O’Connor, novelist Mike McCormack ( Also reading at this year’s Festival (21st September at 5 pm), poet Rita Ann Higgins, artistic director of Macnas Noeline Kavanagh, singer-song-writer Róisín Seoighe and visual artist Pádraic Reaney. Long a crossroads of sea, of land, of thought and story, Galway is a confluence of river, lake and brine; a world in which murmurations of heart, head and imagination sometimes flow.
